With spirited strides toward the new, jointly composing splendid chapters. On the evening of December 31, the university held the 2026 New Year’s Gala at the Chang’an Campus. Teachers, students, and their families gathered together, bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new one amidst wonderful performances including singing, dancing, cross-talk, and traditional Chinese opera. Xiao Daoyuan, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of NWU, and Head of the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision Stationed at the University, attended the gala. The gala commenced with an opening dance jointly performed by the Staff Art Troupe and the Student Art Troupe, followed by programs such as Ode to the Coral, A Great River, and Mount Loushan. The grand finale, The Tale of Dinosaurs, was jointly performed by the great-granddaughter and niece of our university’s former President, Mr. Yang Zhongjian, the pioneer and founder of Chinese vertebrate paleontology. Through an impassioned speech and magical illusion techniques, the performance vividly recreated Mr. Yang Zhongjian’s spirit of scientific exploration and his outstanding achievements. The gala also featured a lucky draw segment, where ten fortunate audience members took the stage to share their New Year’s wishes for the university, their families, and themselves.
