On April 14, the First International Symposium on Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning between China, Africa and Arab States (also the 4th International Symposium on China-Arab Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning) was held in Algiers, Algeria. Co-hosted by Northwest University, University of Algiers 3, Chinese Embassy in Algeria, CICG Center for Europe and Africa and Fudan University. The symposium gathered more than 60 scholars from universities and research institutions of 13 countries including China, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, over 300 teachers and students from the University of Algiers 3, as well as representatives of more than ten Chinese and foreign media outlets. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on China-Arab cultural exchange and mutual learning, national governance, people-to-people exchanges, economic, trade and scientific and technological cooperation. Bidal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Algeria, Dong Guangli, Chinese Ambassador to Algeria, and Khalid, President of the University of Algiers 3, delivered speeches at the ceremony. Zhao Lijun, Director of CICG Center for Europe and Africa, and Sun Qingwei, President of Northwest University, addressed the symposium online. (School of Country and Region Studies)
