On the morning of August 30, the 2026 Opening Ceremony of Northwest University was held at Zhihua Gymnasium on the Chang’an Campus. Present at the ceremony were academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professors Shu Degan and Zhao Guochun, national‑level distinguished teaching professor Geng Guohua, Liu Ruiming, an alumnus from the class of 2002, executive dean of the State‑owned Economy Research Institute of Renmin University of China and Yangtze River Scholar, and professor Wang Chunmei, Yangtze River Young Scholar from the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences. Also in attendance were all university leaders, principal officials of administrative departments, operational and affiliated units, party and administrative heads of each faculty, faculty representatives and all new students of the class of 2026.
