From July 24 to 26, the 19th Annual Academic Conference and the 3rd General Member Assembly of the Primatology Branch under the Chinese Zoological Society was held in Xi’an, co-hosted by Northwest University and Shaanxi Institute of Zoology. With the theme “Rise and Mission of Chinese Primatology”, the conference attracted 328 scientific researchers from more than 50 institutions across China.
Elections for the 3rd Committee of the branch were held at the conference. Through democratic voting by all delegate members, a new committee was elected. Professor Guo Songtao from Northwest University was elected chairperson of the 3rd Committee; Senior Engineer He Gang served as Secretary‑General, with several scholars appointed as Vice‑chairpersons. Five experts delivered invited keynote speeches. Four thematic forums were set up. Eighty academic abstracts were collected, alongside 70 oral reports and 15 poster presentations. The event showcased the latest original domestic research findings and boosted integrated development of basic theories, conservation technologies, monitoring equipment and science popularization education. At the closing ceremony, Zhou Jiang, vice‑chairperson of the branch, gave the closing speech. (School of Life Sciences)
