On the afternoon of September 9, Peter Lohman, Deputy Political Minister Counselor of the US Embassy in China, and his delegation visited Northwest University. Han Zhibin, Vice‑president, attended and addressed the forum. Personnel from the Science and Technology Department, the School of International Cooperation (School of International Education), and the Social Security Research Institute of the university took part in the discussion.
Han Zhibin introduced the university’s history, disciplinary strengths, scale of operations and opening‑up‑oriented development strategy. He reviewed fruitful cooperation outcomes between Northwest University and multiple US universities and institutions in faculty‑student exchanges, joint scientific research and youth exchanges. He expressed the hope that the visit of the delegation could serve as an opportunity to further deepen China‑US educational and scientific research cooperation, expand platforms for youth exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and build academic consensus through practical collaboration, and contribute to the sustainable development of China‑US cultural and educational exchanges.
Peter Lohman reviewed recent high‑level interactions between China and the United States and learned about ongoing partnerships between Northwest University and US higher‑education institutions.
