From September 17 to 19, the International Symposium on Archaeological Discoveries and Research in the Altai-Tianshan Region was held in Hami, Xinjiang. Sun Tao, secretary of the CPC Hami Municipal Committee; Zhang Chaolin, deputy secretary of the CPC Hami Municipal Committee; Wang Hailong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hami Municipal Committee and vice mayor; Sun Qingwei, president of NWU; Li Jun, director of the Cultural Heritage Administration of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region; and Duan Hongsheng, second-level inspector of the Cultural Heritage Administration of Shaanxi Province, attended the opening ceremony. More than 70 experts and scholars from seven countries, including China, Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Japan and the Republic of Korea, took part in the symposium. The opening ceremony was moderated by Wang Jianxin, chief scientist of the Collaborative Research Center for Archaeology of the Silk Roads.
